At Northumbria, we are proud to be able to offer a range of work experience placements across our different sites. Work experience is a great way to find out about some of the 350+ job roles available to you within the NHS. It will give you the opportunity to see first-hand what our staff do daily and the skills that are needed for these roles. Our placements are available across our large geographical patch.

 

Important information:

*Due to the high volume of applications, we have received and are trying to process,
we are no longer accepting any new applications for Work Experience for June or July 2024.*

 

•  Applications will only be accepted if you are 13 years old and above.

•  We can support clinical and non-clinical placements in our hospital sites, admin bases or GP surgeries depending on your interests

•  Unfortunately, we cannot provide placements in the below following areas: 

  • Paediatrics

  • Maternity, Obstetrics and Gynaecology

  • Clinical Psychology

  • A&E

  • Theatres

 

Placements can only be arranged 3 months in advance of the placement date commencing, subject to satisfactory occupational health clearances, which will take 3 months to be cleared. Please note you will receive an appointment to attend occupational health via the email address provided on your application, directly by our Occupational Health Team.

 

Please ensure that you work experience application form specifically states clearly the area that you are wanting your observational/shadow placement to commence in and your personal statement MUST highlight the reasons why you want to be placed in this area.

 

It is important that we receive your application in a timely manner ahead of the requested start dates of this placement, due to the above process, we cannot guarantee placements without the above checks taking place, please ensure that you are flexible with your placement dates, due to demands.
